Here at Dub Tend we pride ourselves on our vehicle lining. We have honed the process and finish over the years to reach where we are today. When your vehicle is lined by us rest assured it’s not a quick in and out in a day job, usually the whole of your vehicles first day with us is preparation.
We carefully strip the vehicle of any of the factory trim and/or lining panels. For the next part of the process we key any painted surfaces that are to be covered with trim, then clean the surfaces with a cleaning, degreasing and silicon removing product that is usually used in paint shops before painting a vehicle. This is to ensure any adhesive we use adheres to the surface perfectly, and importantly will stay bonded. We only use top quality high temperature resistant adhesive to ensure your lining job will withstand the high temperatures experienced in a vehicle on the hottest summer days.
Only once the body shell of your Transporter is completely cleaned and prepped do we start the application of your chosen vehicle trim. Each side of the van is trimmed from front to back in one piece of lining trim to ensure a professional and seamless look.
After the first stage of lining is completed we then proceed to the panels used in your vehicle. We only use brand new high quality 6mm birch ply to make our lining panels, with 3mm used on the sliding door/doors. We do not reuse any of the factory VW hardboard panels or existing ply that maybe in the van. All our panels are precision cut before being lined in you chosen colour of trim, again using the high temperature adhesive.
Once ready the lined panels are fitted into the vehicle using concealed fixing techniques with out any unsightly plastic clips or screw heads on show anywhere. What we also feel is important is that all of the panels can be removed at anytime for any future upgrades you may want to carry out ie if you want to run any wiring for lights, speakers etc, or if in the unfortunate event of any panel damage to the exterior of your Transporter access to the rear of any body panels is possible for repairs to be carried out. With this technique of lining your vehicle, most parts of your van are effectively double carpeted aiding acoustic insulation of the vehicle.
Dub Tend uses 10′ x 5′ ply to make your headlining therefore negating the need for an unsightly join in your headlining, leaving an attractive looking one piece headlining. Again we do not reuse any of the factory hardboard panels, used in some the “cheaper” lining jobs out there. One of the distinct advantages of using good quality 6mm ply is that you can fix to it and it is capable of supporting the weight of speakers if you choose to fit these to any of the side panels, tailgate or barndoor panels.
You can compliment your vehicle lining with a choice of flooring finishes and colours. VW factory rubber flooring works well with our lining or you can go for a precision cut 12mm ply floor with a choice of non slip floor coverings in various colours, but all guaranteed to be commercial quality for durability and long life.
Our vehicle lining is a great starting point for a full camper conversion, day van or even just to make your daily work vehicle a quieter more comfortable place to be.
We always have a lined vehicle on site to view and generally a vehicle in the process of being lined to view if you wish to see one mid process, please call to arrange a time to visit us.
